| WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP? |
The workshop was created to teach people how to develop job aids for workers to use on the job to complete any type of task. It is just as effective for management and leadership tasks as technical tasks. It was also created to help people develop instructions for customers to use who buy their products and/or services.

| HOW LONG IS THE WORKSHOP? |
The workshop is two and one-half days long. It consists of eleven (11) lessons.

The workshop is for individuals who design training and other performance supports to help people do their jobs more effectively and efficiently. It is for trainers, course developers, training managers, documentation writers, job aid developers, human resource professionals, line managers, supervisors, team leaders, documentation writers, and anyone else who develops policies procedures, and job standards.

| WHAT INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY IS USED IN THE WORKSHOP? |
The workshop is criterion-referenced and taught primarily in a self-paced format. It is 100% compatible with all of the workshops designed by Dr. Robert F. Mager. It was designed to "fit" with Dr. Mager's workshops offered by The Center for Effective Performance, Inc. Participants work on an number of their own tasks throughout the workshop so they leave with at least four job aids they created. It is also offered in a self-study, distance learning mode. | WHAT WILL PEOPLE LEARN TO DO IN THE WORKSHOP? WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES? |
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the user (the person who will use the job aid)
- Describe the performance environment (the location(s) where the job aid will be used)
- Describe the task to be performed (what the job aid helps the user do)
- Determine if job aids and/or training should be developed (figure out if job aids are an appropriate solution to a problem)
- Choose the format for a job aid (select the best format for the task to be performed)
- Select materials for job aids (select the best materials to make the job aids out of considering the user and the environment in which they will be used)
- Convert written text to job aids (take an existing procedure that is often ambiguous and convert it into a good job aid)
- Write procedure guides ( step-by-step, cookbook type job aids)
- Write decision-making guides (job aids that help new employees make decisions like experienced employees)
- Write checklists and worksheets ( job aids that help people check things, take notes, and make calculations)
- Tryout and revise job aids (test the job aids to make sure they work properly)

| WHERE IS THE WORKSHOP CONDUCTED? |
It is conducted as a public workshop four times a year in Williamsburg, Virginia and offered as an in-house workshop at any time at your location for your company's employees. It is also offered in a self-study, distance learning mode.

| WHAT DOES THE WORKSHOP COST? |
The investment for the public and distance-learning workshop is $985 per attendee. The in-house workshop costs $11, 900 plus the instructor's travel expenses for up to twelve (12) participants. Three or more people registering at the same time and attending the same public workshop session receive a $50 discount per person on the cost of workshop tuition.

| CAN I BUY A SET OF THE WORKSHOP MATERIALS TO REVIEW? |
Yes, you can buy the participant materials. A complete set of the participant materials costs $395. The set includes all 11 lessons, the objectives, the introduction, practice exercises with feedback, skill checks, and self-evaluations for each lesson. It also includes a CD with all of the worksheets used during the workshop. The cost of the materials is deducted from the total fee if you decide later to complete the workshop in a distance-learning mode.

| CAN MY COMPANY'S INSTRUCTORS BE CERTIFIED TO CONDUCT THIS WORKSHOP IN-HOUSE? |
Yes, they can be certified. The process is easy. It involves them attending a regular public or in-house workshop as a participant and then attending a one-day Trainer Certification workshop. The certification workshop is scheduled immediately following the regular workshop. There is a certification fee for this workshop and then your organization is entitled to conduct the workshop in-house and purchase workshop materials at considerable savings off the regular price.
